Tri-County Tea Party Florida Newsletter
The Commander of the American Legion, Post #347 where we, Tri-County Tea Party Florida  hold our meetings every week has asked for our membership's help.  The following is his letter as read at our membership meeting, Tuesday, July 20th, 2010.

A few years ago, I contacted the Florida National Guard in Leesburg, inquiring if there were any reservists in need.  The post was getting ready to distribute food baskets.  Several of the reservists were in desperate need of assistance due to large families, loss of jobs after their last deployment, and mounting personal debt.
And so a tradition was begun.  The post delivers food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The post has also responded to a plea for assistance in buying "Magic Jacks" that help the troops in the field communicate with the families back home.
The reserve unit is now on active duty in Kuwait.  Many of the families back home are struggling.  The breadwinner is not working overtime, tuitions have to be paid.  At times there is a wide spread between civilian pay and army pay, especially those in the lower ranks.
The post has now started collecting non perishable food for distribution to both the reservist's families in Leesburg, but also for several families in the Lady Lake Area that are in need of help.
When you come to future tea party meetings, would you please help us by bringing one can of food and drop it into the plastic container, just inside the hall entry door.
On behalf of the recipients that receive your generosity, THANK YOU.
FOR GOD AND COUNTRY

The primary elections on August 24th, 2010 will be one of the most important voting opportunities in the history of our country.  These primaries will get the ball rolling for the November mid-term elections where voters will take back America from those intent upon spending us into bankruptcy.

Keeping this in mind, the Tri-County Tea Party Florida wants to make sure that every person eligible to vote will proudly use that vote in the most intelligent way.
Unfortunately, the nation's biased newspapers and broadcast media don't disseminate the truth and so, organizations like ours must do the work the media refuse to do.
Our Tri-County Tea Party, which serves Lake, Sumter and Marion Counties, has made a special commitment to providing people in these areas with straight, "unvarnished" facts and the truth "untainted" by partisan politics.
On July 19thth, 2010, we are opening a the "non-partisan" candidate's information office at 734 S. Hwy. #441, Lady Lake, next to Paradise Flooring in the AMAC Offices.  The purpose of this office is to provide information to anyone on all candidates running for public office: for county commissioner, Florida House and Senate, and the United States House and Senate.  We hope to have this information office open and staffed five and a half days a week.
Each candidate will be offered an opportunity to use our facility for a "Meet & Greet" session.  To schedule these sessions, candidates, or their designated representatives, must contact our coordinator, (person's name and phone #), and then advertise and/or promote it themselves.

IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO MAN THE OFFICE TO JUST HAND OUT INFORMATION ON CANDIDATES AND OUR TEA PARTY INFORMATION.  THE OFFICE WILL BE OPEN MONDAY, WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY 11AM TO 7PM THRU AUGUST 24TH, 2010 PRIMARY ELECTION DAY.  IF MORE PEOPLE VOLUNTEER AND SIGN UP, THEN THE LONGER THE OFFICE WILL BE AVAILABLE.
REMEMBER, WE ONLY HAVE UNTIL AUGUST 24TH TO HAND OUT INFORMATION REGARDING THE PRIMARIES.  AFTER THAT, WE WILL START  PREPARING FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTIONS.  SO PLEASE TAKE 2 HOURS OUT OF YOUR DAY TO HELP EDUCATE OTHERS SO WE CAN BRING BACK OUR COUNTRY.  P
PLEASE CONTACT MICKI MC CUMBEE AT

"Greatest generation" winds down to a precious few

By Joe Angione

America's greatest generation, immortalized by their valor in World War II and lionized in the pages of Tom Brokaw's bestselling book, is shrinking down to a mere handful of its original numbers, once millions strong, who saved us from the horrors of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. These American heroes are now dying off at the rate of 1,800 every day.
The realization that the greatest generation is quickly disappearing came rushing down on me a few weeks ago when I learned that my uncle, Francis Xavier Dooley, had passed away in Thousand Oaks, California. He was a month short of his 94th birthday.
Uncle Frank was a World War II veteran, and I remember his stories about serving with the Army's 77th Infantry Division in the Pacific. He took part in the 77th's landings on Guam, Leyte and Okinawa.
The Division made 15 landings to secure the neighboring islands of Kerama Retto and Keise Shima before the assault on Okinawa. At sea, in April 1945, the 77th suffered casualties from Kamikaze attacks. At Shima, the 77th captured the airfield, and engaged in a bitter fight for "Government House Hill" and "Bloody Ridge." It was at this time that the famous war correspondent, Ernie Pyle, was killed.
Finally reaching Okinawa, the fighting went very slowly with the 77th taking many casualties against extremely heavy Japanese resistance. In June, the 77th fighting alongside the 1st Marine Division and the XXIV Corps finally sealed off the remaining Japanese cave positions and the battle ended.
The records say that Okinawa was the bloodiest battle in the history of our nation. We sustained more than 50,000 casualties and, in the end, U.S. forces had killed 110,000 entrenched Japanese defenders. It was a costly victory, but absolutely necessary to end the war in the Pacific.
Today, most Americans have forgotten the ultimate sacrifice made by 400,000 American military in World War II. Many of those who do remember have become convinced that nothing can ever threaten America like our Axis enemies did in that terrible conflict.
A lot of us don't understand why we're overseas again, this time in the Middle East, engaging an enemy that some say isn't connected in any way to the terrorists who killed 3,000 people on our soil in the attacks of September 11, 2001.
We're outraged when we hear that combat in the Middle East has claimed the lives of more of our troops: a helicopter downed in Afghanistan; a convoy truck destroyed by a roadside bomb somewhere in Iraq. Every life is precious and we morn our losses on battlefields where many think we don't belong. But life was also precious when our greatest generation died by the hundreds of thousands in the European and Pacific campaigns of World War II.
Back then, Americans were acutely aware that war is a business of death, and that there are terrible risks to everyone who stands on a battlefield. They accepted these risks, prayed hard, and showed great respect for G.I.s like my uncle Frank who put their lives on the line in the defense of freedom.
Today, most Americans give at least lip service to the courage and sacrifices made by our troops in the Middle East. No one wants to dishonor Americans who die in the service of our country. But there are too many of us now who wonder what's so great about defending an America the world calls arrogant and immoral, criticizing that we make war to impose our will on smaller nations, and to deny the right of emerging cultural-political movements to change the world.
Many of our young people doubt the honor and the purpose of our great country because they've never understood what it is to be an American; and what America truly stands for. We, the generations who owe so much to those who fought and died in World War II, haven't taught our children of the greatness we've all inherited. We've failed miserably in passing on this knowledge about the meaning of America.
Syndicated columnist, Dennis Prager argues that without this knowledge today's generation becomes more "rudderless," and this makes us a society that may not survive because it doesn't have a reason to survive.
Not enough of us saw this problem developing.  For nearly a half century our schools have failed to clearly define Americanism and provide students with a positive idea of who they are. After World War II, when communism emerged as the next ideology to threaten America, our educators didn't do nearly enough to spotlight its dangers; to alert young people to its assault against personal responsibility and self reliance, and to see its utter subjugation of the individual to the will of the  state.
Today, big government-socialism on the slippery path to communism-is offered as the answer to all of America's ills. America's greatest generation would choke on this idea.
It's said that, today, our country is only what our generation has made of it, working severely handicapped without the perspective on America that preceding generations grew up with, believed in, and served so magnificently.
My uncle Frank is gone, and a scant few remain of those who served in the regiments...and squadrons...and armadas that kept freedom alive for a land that, today, too few of us seem to  appreciate.
Is the light of liberty about to die out? And if so, who will stand with us against the fall of night? America must look to its sons and daughters who now serve this country on distant battlefields. They are the true successors to America's greatest generation.
    Happy Fourth of July. --JA

Latest preparations for Iran-Israel war

Unless you tap into the Jerusalem-based, independent, military intelligence Web site, DEBKAfile, you'll find almost nothing reported about the impending war, late this summer, between Israel and three radical enemies: Iran, Syria and Lebanon. Plans are heating up, says DEBKAfile, and they include a key role for the United States.
DEBKAfile reports an armada of 10 U.S. warships accompanied by an Israeli missile ship and a German missile frigate have reached the Persian Gulf. In early June, the U.S.S. Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group was deployed close to the shore of southwestern Israel practicing intercepts of incoming Iranian, Syrian and Hezbollah missiles and rockets that might be fired against U.S. and Israeli targets in the region.
The Truman´s sixty F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter bombers took off on simulated bombing runs against targets set up by the Israeli Air Force at its firing range in the Negev desert.
The exercise was also said to have included additional American F-16 fighter jets landing at Israeli Air Force facilities from European bases, refueling and taking off with Israeli fighter bombers to practice long-range bombing missions over the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
Dubbed Juniper Stallion 2010, the unpublicized joint exercise was initiated when President  Obama ordered all US missile interceptors in the Middle East to go on war alert in the second week of June, including batteries aboard US Sixth Fleet vessels on the Mediterranean and the US Fifth Fleet in the Persian Gulf.
The exercise was prompted by fears of Syria´s deployment of advanced Scud missiles for Hezbollah on Israel's border with Lebanon
On first thought, it seems unlikely that Obama, the "great negotiator," would want to rattle any sabers under Ahmadinejad's nose. But, DEBKAfile's intelligence reports are said to have an 80-percent accuracy rate, and the agency is well respected by many of the world's top news media.
It could be that Obama finally realizes a wider Middle-Eastern conflict is imminent, and it's better to get in up front than to be dragged in after the missiles start flying.

McChrystal fed up with impossible assignment

General Stanley McChrystal is no fool, and his subordinate officers aren't stupid either. The shocking McChrystal interview posted in the liberal rag called Rolling Stone magazine, was intended by the general as the best way to get out of an untenable situation: a war in Afghanistan that can't be won under his ineffective rules of engagement and the highly publicized July 2011 exit date ordered by the White House.
The general's biggest fault was to be pressured by the White House to conceive a plan for a kinder, gentler war that underestimated the viciousness of a diabolical enemy who cares for no one: Muslim or infidel. It should be noted that although McChrystal was fired, both Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Mike Mullen have echoed the president's intention to have McChrystal's rules of engagement remain in place, proof that McChrystal was pressed into issuing those orders.
Whether or not we agree with how the general delivered his message--suggesting the  incompetence of the commander-in-chief as a military strategist--the message had to be delivered in a very public way. A private, closed-door resignation would have hidden Obama's role in the debacle that the Afghanistan campaign has become. It's looking like a monstrous failure, and that's no surprise to our best military minds, to most intelligent world leaders, and worst of all to our terrorist enemies. They've been using Washington's political correctness against us in combat where ridiculous precautions against civilian casualties are said to be costing the lives of a growing number of our troops.
Some examples: Reports say that U.S. troops are not permitted to shoot first at obvious insurgents, even those carrying weapons. This gives the enemy the upper hand, and keeps our soldiers in a permanent defensive position. It's also been noted that "illumination shells" routinely fired by our artillery at night to light up enemy positions, and smoke rounds fired during the day to provide cover for our troops are now being eliminated because they may harm nearby civilians. Once again, insurgents, who know where our forces are positioned, are given advantages that ensure needless U.S. casualties.
You can't "wage" peace before you wage a successful war. The man who critics are calling the "weakling in the White House" now appears to be turning the Oval Office into the "offal" office.

Simple logic reveals truth about Gulf oil spill

It's time to bring some common sense into the debate about who should bear the greatest blame for the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Let's start with some facts: This well site was the biggest hit in BP's history, with a production and profit potential almost beyond belief. Oil experts say that, if not properly capped, it could continue to spurt oil at the current rate for years, maybe even a decade  longer.
Anyone who thinks BP's top executives weren't paying full attention to daily drilling operations, and supervising them with the greatest concern doesn't know of the phenomenal uncertainty of oil exploration and its frightful expense. Even though BP was cited for safety violations before, only a gaggle of morons would have "cut corners" at this well site.
Whether Trans Oceanic, the company that was contracted to do the actual drilling, exercised the utmost care is not known. But the incident surely didn't occur because proper safety regulations weren't in place. None of the other 30,000 wells drilled since oil production first began in the Gulf have suffered such a disaster. During hurricane Katrina, more than 120 drilling rigs were toppled in the Gulf and yet not a drop of oil reached coastal beaches and wetlands.
Drilling management errors and worker carelessness may have contributed to Deepwater Horizon's failure, but only a thorough investigation will tell for sure.
What isn't being seriously explored, at least not yet, is the possible role of purposeful "foot dragging," including White House rejection of foreign clean-up assistance, in the terribly slow response to the disaster.
Columnist David Limbaugh, has written of the close ties between the manufacturers of the dispersant chemicals used in the clean-up process and friends of the Obama administration. The chemicals are very expensive, toxic to fish and animals, and have been banned in other parts of the world. Yet, the more the well gushes oil, the more of these dispersants are employed. So far their use, in the hundreds of thousands of gallons, has been highly profitable for producers and, possibly, for their friends in Washington.
At least as bad, and probably worse, is the possibility that sabotage played the leading role in the massive oil leak. If environmental extremists wanted to destroy the future of all off-shore oil drilling, the Deepwater Horizon would be the well to sabotage. It was no secret that this well would be a humongous producer and, if tampered with, a potentially monumental polluter.
No examination of this disaster can be complete without a special investigation into those on the oil rig who might have connections with radical environmental groups, and who might have been paid handsomely to spring the leak. Such an investigation might find criminal associations between "green freaks" in the Obama administration and those fanatics who believe in man-made global warming.

Does Obama hold our border hostage?

From out of a closed meeting last week between Barack Obama and Senator Jon Kyl (R - Texas) comes word from Kyl that the president is going to use the insecurity of the Mexican border to push through a comprehensive immigration reform bill. No doubt that bill will pave the way to easy amnesty for the millions of undocumented aliens who have illegally crossed our southern border looking for work and access to the host of entitlements now offered to U.S. residents, apparently regardless of their citizenship.
Kyl reported that, at his one-on-one meeting with Obama, the president told him, "The problem is, if we secure the border, then you all [ Republicans] won't have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform."
When discussing Obama's comments in a YouTube video clip, Kyl said: "In other words, they're [the White House] holding it [the border] hostage."
Naturally, the White House denied the allegation. But when an administration like Obama's wheels and deals behind closed doors and "misspeaks" so often, who should we believe? I think Kyl is by far the more credible of the two.
I wonder what kind of crime is committed when the president refuses to defend our borders until he gets a favor from the opposition party.

INFORMATION FROM ONE OF OUR MEMBERS

From a friend in Ohio
Republican dinner last night

Just thought I would share with you a little bit of what we heard at last night's Republican dinner here in Crawford County Ohio . John Kasich (running for Gov. of Ohio ) was the keynote speaker. Also present were many politicians, most notably, Bob Latta, our U.S. Congressman. Mike and I walked up to Bob and thanked him for his conservative voting record and voiced our concern about what is going on in Washington. He made some funny botox remarks about Pelosi and then agreed with us that we have every reason to be concerned. As there were others waiting to talk to him, our time was brief. Although what took place later that evening should make chills run up and down everyone's spine to hear. He had asked to speak a few words at the end of the night and went up on stage. He proceeded to tell the crowd how bad things really are in Washington . He said he only had a few minutes to speak, but if he could tell us even half of what the agenda is and what this administration plans to do to our country we couldn't sleep at night. He said he only gets about 4- 4 1/2 hours of sleep a night and worries constantly about what they want to do to this country. He said that Pelosi, Reid and Obama have to be stopped.
He said, "You know, you always hear this is the most important election blah blah blah, but I am telling you people...whatever you have to do to wake people up you need to do! We have got to vote them out in 2010 or with the things they have planned for this country we won't even be a country by 2020! Ten years. You could see the look of almost desperation on his face.
He talked about the huge debt. He talked about how the CBO gets their "figures". He sits on the finance committee of some sort and listens to the ramblings of Geitner and Bernanke. He said "If you think that the Chinese won't hold this over us with all our debt you have another thought coming. Our children will have nothing. I don't care if you have to go out door to door, tell at least 10 people who will then tell 10 people. We have to do this. This is the single most important election ever in the history of this country. The change that Obama promised us is NOT the change people thought he meant."      Chilling.

Subject: New 'Red Flag' Requirements for Financial Institutions and Creditors Will Help Fight Identity Theft

I had an embarrassing thing happen to me the other day that I wish to share with you.  I went to my dog's Vet to get her Heartgard refilled.  I was handed the meds, and placed them in my purse as I handed the lady at the desk my Debit/Credit card from my bank.  I've been doing business with them for years, and she knew me.

She ran it through the transaction machine and asked me for my pin number.  I have had this card for several years and have NEVER used it as a Debit card so I told her to just run it through as a Credit Card.  She notified me that since the card had "debit" printed on it, they could only run it through as a debit card.  Since I didn't even know my pin, and I didn't have enough cash to pay (almost $100.00), I had to reach into my purse and give back the Heartgard...was my face red!  I immediately went home and purchased the meds from the internet, using the same card for payment.  That company accepted the card as a "credit" card----and their price was even a little lower than my Vet's.  Next, I wrote a letter to my Veterinarian.

Today I received a call from the Office Mgr. at the veterinarian's.  She explained that they recently got a new transaction machine, along with notification from "the Government" explaining a "Red Flag Law" (see link below).  After speaking with her I called my Bank and the woman there never heard of this law, nor did they ever hear of this problem before.  To take it a step further, I then called my doctor's office and asked if they would accept a Debit/Credit Card as a credit card or if I had to use it as a debit.  They would have no problem using it as a credit card.

I don't doubt that the Vet's Office Mgr. received instructions from gov't.  She was very candid with me and the FTC does have a Red Flag law.  On line I found out that it was written last year but won't go into effect until this December (2010).  Is this just one more way our gov't.-owned banks are looking to make money from us?  Now that we are being forced into using our bank card as a debit card, I don't doubt that banks will raise the debit card fees, do you?

There is so much going on in DC, and we are loosing so many of our freedoms.  This is just one thing that I personally experienced that I wasn't aware of....and you all know how I try to stay on top of things.  Please stay alert & take the time to educate yourselves in current events.  Even small steps in the wrong direction will lead you to where you don't want to go.  We've got to put the brakes on our government NOW.

Sincerely---
Sue

TO FORWARD NEWSLETTERS

There are 2 ways: the first is go to the bottom of the newsletter, and in system print it will say: Forward.  Click that button and it will bring you to another page.  It will ask where you want to send it to.  One person at a time.  So you need to have that persons email address.  I they click on 'Unsubscribe' that will knock you off the list to receive any newsletter or announcement in the future.  It doesn't matter if you didn't do it, but anyone you send it to does, it affects your standing.

The second way is if you want to send it to multiple parties at once:

The newsletters are sent out through a third party, not from a member of the Tri-County Tea Party-FL.  If you just use your Forward button on your email system and you Forward it the person that you sent it to may want to ‘Unsubscribe’ from getting it.  They can click on the link provided on the bottom of the email.  By doing that instead of knocking their email address out of the system from getting it, the request goes back to the 3rd party sender and kicks your email address out of the system.  YOU are unsubscribed from receiving any group email sent out TCTP through the 3rd Party.  Because the email group is so large, using a 3rd Party is the only way the group can get them out.  Please follow the instructions below to Forward it on to            multi-parties at once:                                                                                                                                               1)     Bring up the email from the TCTP that you want to Forward

2)     Take your pointer to the every top of your email, hold your clicker down to copy to newsletter to highlight want you want to copy.  Do this EXCEPT for the small letting from the forwarding company

3)     Go up to you Edit button, click on Copy

4)     Compose a new email, go to the Contents section, click on Paste

5)       Fill in the To:CC:BC, and subject line

Then send it off like you normally would.
